I like giving great gifts that I know the person will not only enjoy and use but gifts that benefit charity as well. Headbands of Hope have cute quality headbands and for each headband that is purchased, Headbands of Hope sends a headband to a girl with cancer, and $1 is donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund life-saving childhood cancer research.
How It All Started
Entrepreneur, fashion designer, philanthropist and college senior Jessica Ekstrom, 22, has created a line of vibrantly colored headbands to help young girls with cancer. After an inspirational internship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and meeting several young girls with cancer, Jessica saw firsthand how much losing their hair during chemotherapy treatments affected the girls’ self-esteem and confidence. She wanted to give them something to boost their spirits and make them smile when they looked in the mirror. That inspiration led to the creation of Headbands of Hope, an organization with a mission to fund research for childhood cancer and spread hope in all girls, one headband at a time.
The headband you see pictured is the Zebra Headband. The headband is made of stretchy elastic that is super soft. It has chiffon flowers attached to the headband and backed with felt for added security and comfort. The flower cluster measures about 3 inches in diameter and the band is 5/8 of an inch. Price: $14.85
My daughter likes headbands, but she has trouble keeping certain types on. We have been looking for headbands that will stay on her head and be comfortable for her to wear all day at school. This type of headband didn’t bother her at all and she said it stayed on throughout the day. She says it’s comfy and pretty and she loves it. Kid-Approved!
