I was talking to a friend of mine the other night, who has recently started going back to school. She mentioned all the studying, papers, exams, etc. She brought up writers block and needing ideas to help jump start her writing. It took me back to my college days. I remember what it was like studying for exams and writing countless papers and all the deadlines there were. It could get quite stressful. I recall the assigned essays and having to chose topics in which to write about in various subjects. I can totally relate and sympathize with her plight.
Just the other day I came across some information on a resourceful site called Studymode.com. It has apparently been around for years, but I had never heard of it. I mentioned the site to my friend so she could check it out. Studymode is basically a place to get inspiration and ideas for those who are experiencing writer’s block. They have quality essays that can be referenced and easily cited with their cite generator (the site is not for copying others work and turning it in as your own, they do not condone plagiarism at all).
“This site was built by students for students — students looking for a resource for brainstorming, reference sharing, and knowledge exchange. Think of us as an encyclopedia of ideas. Life just got a little easier.”
I have always enjoyed writing (about things I was interested in) but at times there was too much going on and words would escape me. I would need a little inspiration. I found myself needing a boost to get started with papers that were on a topic that had been randomly assigned to me. A site like Study Mode would have been super helpful in my schooling days. It felt good to be able to recommend a helpful site to a friend, a site that I wish I would have had access to when I was in school.
Have you ever experienced writer’s block? Where did you turn for inspiration? Do you know of any other resourceful sites I can share with my friend?
